Questions to ask your photographer before hiring them…

This is extremely important while wedding planning. Your photographer will be the one that is with you your entire wedding day. It is very important to know you can vibe with them and get along with them. Here are some questions that are good to ask when you are considering hiring them.

Can you describe your wedding style? Ensuring that your vision aligns with your photographer’s style is crucial. Your wedding photos are one of the few things you’ll keep forever, making it essential that their work resonates with what you envision. My own style is best described as storytelling with a blend of moody yet vibrant tones, warm, earthy colors, and a candid, documentary, storytelling approach. I believe every couple has a unique love story, and my goal is to capture that narrative authentically through my lens.

Can we see a full wedding gallery? I strongly recommend reviewing several full wedding galleries from previous clients. This will give you a clear sense of how the photographer handles different environments and lighting conditions, and whether their editing style is consistent throughout. It’s very important to see how they manage challenging scenarios, like dark venues, spaces with yellow walls or lighting, or limited photo opportunities. Knowing that your photographer can adapt to any lighting situation ensures that your wedding gallery will be beautiful, no matter the circumstances.

What kind of equipment do you use, and do you have backup equipment? It is good to know that the photographer you are considering uses professional-grade equipment. This will ensure your photos will be of the highest quality. Sometimes technology fails, so it is really important for your photographer to have back up equipment. Camera, lenses, memory cards, etc.

Do you have insurance? Make sure your photographer is insured in case of accidents or damage at the venue.

Why did you become a wedding photographer and what do you love most about it? Understanding a photographer’s passion and love for their work is essential, especially since you’ll be spending most of your wedding day with them! For me, being part of a couple's big day and capturing all those beautiful moments is incredibly rewarding. The trust my clients place in me for such an important occasion truly brings me joy. Photography has always been my dream, and while I began with family and couple sessions, I eventually found my niche in weddings and engagements. That said, I still love capturing family, maternity, and milestone photos too!"
